I like it in theory bu there’s something dowdy and dusty about it.

I am finally, finally, after two decades, losing my Simpsons reference to the name Selma. For years Aunt Selma was the only place I'd heard the name so it was tied to her. Of course, as I got older, the more I came to appreciate the character of Aunt Selma, so that's helped the name's reputation in my mind too. I used to think it was very ugly. I think Selma is pretty cute, now. Salma is quite popular in some places, so why not Selma? It's retro and crunchy in a hipster way. Actually I can now appreciate the sibset Patricia, Selma, and Margaret a lot more than when I was a kid.... and Oh my god I just realized Maggie was named after her mother?! Mind, blown.

Much prefer Thelma.

It's just okay imo. It has slightly old-lady vibes. Could be cool and unexpected as a middle.I prefer Zulima (Z is pronounced like "S" in Spanish), Zulema, Sulima and Selima. Salma and Selena aren't bad.

You mean Marge's sister from the Simpsons?
