It's a shame that it's a racist joke name because the sounds are actually quite nice. I'm reminded of Hanifa, which I find utterly gorgeous.

I think it's pretty.

It sounds very dated and, as others have mentioned, it is a cliché name for an African American woman of a certain age. The name Ashley on a 90s born white woman who wears ugs, mimics a valley girl accent, misuses literally, and drinks Starbuck's Frappés is an eye roll worthy stereotype. Shaniqua is the African American equivalent.

Ghetto as hell and an unfortunate stereotype name for African Americans.

It's become a racist 90's "joke" name, which is cruel.
