Rochelle is beautiful. I really like Rachel, but Rochelle has a bit more sophisticated vibe to it, and also feels a lot less commonplace. I can't think of a single Rochelle I that I would ever heard of, whereas I can think of lots of Rachels that I've either heard of or know, and I'm not even in an English-speaking country. Rochelle has a bit more interesting sound.
As for Rochelle vs Rachel vs Michelle... that's super difficult! I like all of these. Rochelle is refined, romantic and lady-like, Rachel is very homey, Biblical, and strong but feminine, but the downside is that it's a bit too common and I guess a little dated, and Michelle has a beautiful sound to it and nice nickname potential, and I just have good associations with it, but again, dated, even more so than Rachel, and very common. Still, despite the downside, I think I'll choose Michelle, there's just so much that I like about it.

Rochelle reminds me of seashells? I think the name is unappreciated and a forgotten gem.

Whenever I think of this name, this scene comes to my mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf7nrw3rRw0I don't like any of these three, really, but I guess of those, Rochelle is the most interesting. It's brassy. Rachel is ok, nothing to write home about. Michelle is boring as heck. They would be more fun as middle names!Bette Rochelle is actually a saucy combo.

I’ve loved Rachel (well, Rakel - the Danish version) since I was a kid and Rochelle looks like a super misspelled version in my eyes (I know it’s not related but it’s so close that I can’t help perceiving it like that). Weirdly, as a city name (La Rochelle), I think it’s really pretty. I never cared for Michelle/Michele. I went to school with a Michelle as a kid and she was super snobby. But in general, I adore French names so I have no idea why I don’t love it.But Rachel is beautiful.

With those spellings, I prefer Rachel. But I prefer Michele with one l ahead of them all.I was at school with a Rochelle; quite a pleasant person whom I hardly remember. And no Rachels at all, and just the one Michele, still one of my closest friends. In a town close by, there is a very distinguished girls' school called La Rochelle - we had a lot of French Huguenot immigrants at the time of the religious wars in Europe and it probably dates back to them. But, that is my connection and it doesn't make much impact on me, tbh. I'd certainly choose Rachel if I ever had to: it has grace and dignity, and isn't connected to any particular brand of religion, or to any religion at all. I don't enjoy Michelle, in spite of the Beatles' best endeavours.
