I always pronounce it ASH-a. I’m from the Midwest (U.S.A), just to give you an idea of my accent.
Asha seems like a cool name; I picture someone very modern and artsy, but also quiet and serene.
I have never met anyone with this name. But I think it’s lovely!
I do think it is legitimate to use the ash tree meaning. Maybe that is just because I pronounce it ASH-a, but it doesn’t seem like to big of a stretch to me.
