Lydia
I always recommend the name Lydia to prospective parents. It is such a pretty, intelligent choice. It is the mature and timeless alternative to Olivia, Lily, Lucy. It is simple, recognizable, easy to spell, timeless-ish, distinctive. Nothing in the entire world is wrong with Lydia.
It is a little bit too boring for my own lists but I'd happily compromise on it.
What do you think of Lydia, do you have any combos?

I think I'm of the same opinion as you: it's a name I would always recommend, because it's nice to see in the real world, but I'm not sure I love it enough to ever use it myself.
I think it’s lovely. Vaguely gothic and pretty understated in its beauty. The only reason why I couldn’t use it is because I already have an Elisabeth and there’d be too many Pride and Prejudice jokes to come from that.
There's something a little cold about Lydia. I've known a handful of them and I just haven't warmed to it.

I really like Lydia for its slightly Gothic charms. It puts me in mind of Edgar Allan Poe, it's got that kind of delicate darkness to it, and it's a lovely purpley shade. There is something undeniably chilly about it, though, that keeps me from warming up to it completely. It very much feels like a character in someone else's story, I can't quite connect to it. I'd love to hear about a baby Lydia.
Hmm, how would I combo Lydia....
I feel like it needs something a bit more staid next to it, to better show off its qualities. But nothing too filler or boring.
Lydia Florence
Lydia Josephine
Lydia Caroline
Lydia Geraldine
Lydia Eleanor
Lydia Bernadette
Lydia Gwendolen
Lydia Annabel - see this is getting too delicate, too prissy
Lydia Rosemary
I want something long and strong like Margaret, Catherine, or Elizabeth that isn't Margaret, Catherine or Elizabeth, y'know?
None of these ideas are really pleasing me.

I also think Lydia is lovely. I wonder why it isn’t used more tbh.
I love this name! It's timeless, classic, elegant and altogether beautiful name. Not to mention that it would age well. I love the way it rolls of my tongue. It has been one of my favorite names for a while now.
Here are some combo suggestions:
Lydia Lucille
Lydia Rose
Lydia Marie
Lydia Diane
Lydia Christine

I love it, but I think it's significantly more mature than Olivia, Lily, and Lucy, so I wouldn't expect someone considering those names to think of Lydia as an alternative.
I also like Lydian, Lydiana, Lidia, Lidiana.
Lydia makes me think of deep blue, iridescent black, and ocean, night sky, gemstone and red wine colors.
Lydia Vincenza
Lydia Guinevere

I've never liked it, for the same reason I don't like Olivia and Vivian. It sounds slick and slithery, and I get this strong picture of a woman in an old-fashioned maid uniform, acting servile and simpering and maybe poisoning the tea.
It's my favorite female name right now. I love it! It's just so beautiful. My favorite combo for it at the moment is Lydia Rosalind.
Lydia is beautiful. It is timeless, and I can imagine it on many different types of women.
The associations are a mixed bag. I like that the Lydia in the Bible was a successful business woman and church founder. Lydia Bennet is the only black mark on the name. In the USA, Lydia Maria Francis Child penned "Over the River and Through the Wood," but more importantly was an abolitionist, women's rights activist, Native American rights activist, and opponent of American expansionism. Go Lydia Child! According to Wikipedia, a Lydia was the first woman to get an engineering degree at MIT or anywhere else really, so it is a name with all kinds of bearers.
Since the meaning of Lydia isn't super exciting, I would go for a middle name with a little pizzazz.
Lydia Andraste - I would consider using this.
Lydia Swanhild
Lydia Remei
Lydia Thamina
Lydia Yrsa
Lydia Maris
Lydia Ismene
Lydia Everild
Lydia Esperance
Lydia Adamanthea - maybe a bit over the top

Love it
I've always loved it - ever since I was a little girl who absolutely ADORED the Beetlejuice cartoon! You're right; I can't think of anything wrong with it.
I quite like it, but I’ve heard people say it makes them think of chlamydia.
Jeez. I never thought of that.

Omg, never thought of that before! Now I like it even less :)

Ugh, don't like it. So annoying-sounding imo.
I much prefer it as a middle name. And to that I much prefer Lyra.
It’s also a bit boring honestly.
