It used to be one of my favorites. I still love its meaning.
I don't like it much anymore for these reasons:
- it doesn't really stick out, there are so many similar names: Ella, Eleanor, Elena, Ellie, Ariana, Briana, Aviana, Aliana etc. etc.
- she will probably end up as just another Ellie
- I hate how there are so many misspellings around like Elliana and Ellyana
- I love the Italian pronunciation which sounds more like eh-lee-AH-na, I don't really like it as ell-lee-ANN-a
- getting common and could become a fad-name
