Jude and Conrad
I'm due with a baby boy this spring, and our front runners right now are Jude or Conrad. I love them both and it's hard to choose. My one hesitation is any post-war association with "Jude" in German. Any thoughts on this or general opinions on the names would be welcome!

I like both! When I think of the name Jude, my first thoughts are "Hey Jude" by the Beatles and Jude Law.

Both are gorgeous, so either one would be great! I'd lean towards Conrad as its lesson common. Conrad Jude would be so handsome

I prefer Conrad. But I don't think Jude would be a problem in your case.

Jude 100%, I love it. Conrad is very old man and dated, Jude is classic and handsome.

I like Conrad better. It's cool and strong but has some softer nickname options. I agree about Jude, even in English (I live in the US and I think it does sound like you're naming your baby "Jew").
I've met some dogs named Jude here, but no humans.

I really like Conrad! Jude sounds a bit too brash to me.

Jude is all Beatles to me, and a very nice association. I can't imagine that you would pronounce Jude like the German word. That said, Conrad is one of my favourite names and I would use it without hesitation.

I like both names as well!If you live in Germany and are a German-speaker, then I'd imagine Jude would be problematic (for the reasons you allude to). In this case Conrad would be far more practical, and easier to bear as a name.

Not in Germany (in the US) and not German speakers, just trying to be conscientious.

Oh, well in that case Jude shouldn't be an issue at all. Most people would probably think of the actor Jude Law before any reference to Jews (or to Judas, for that matter). In fact, I think in the U.S. Jude would be the easier name to have than Conrad, which might make people think of "comrade" - and depending on the neighborhood you live in, that could be a very, very negative association.
