I think Annabelle, this spelling, is perhaps the biggest "princess" name out there. Even more than Isabelle - historically a name for princesses and queens. It's too too green, too prissy.Annabel doesn't conjure nearly the same image, despite sounding exactly the same. That -belle ending goes a long way toward making Anna entirely too cutesy. Also, curiously enough, Annabelle does impart the image of fair hair (I've known two blond Annabelles and one redhead, that I can recall), whereas Annabel feels brunette (I actually have never met anyone with this spelling).Annabel will likely get her name misspelled as Annabelle a lot, since the latter is the more common spelling in most countries where the name is found.Can't say I'm fond of the Anabelle spelling, unfortunately - the single-N with the -elle ending looks way off.Annabel Rose
