Darla
What do you think? I'm liking it. Can it be a nickname for Darlene? Combos using either Darlene or Darla?* https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/214161 *☮️ Poof! It's magic!-Amy Sedaris ☮️

It seems overkill as a NN for Darlene. I think it's possible that they're both derived from 'darling' independently. My mom is called Darlene. I think it's sweet but dated and not in a way that will make a mainstream comeback.
The only being I've met named Darla was a chihuahua. I hesitate to like it for a human because of how well it fit.I'd pair them with something youthful/current sounding, that's maybe also sweet and/or a little goofy.Darlene Lorelei / Lorelei Darlene

Darla may be one that is almost, but not quite, ready for a comeback. I think it could work as a nickname for Darlene. But I'd prefer it on is own.

It could be but I don't like either name

No, it is a name in its own right. Darlene nn Darla would be odd and unnecessary, kind of like Isabella nn Isabel.Darla is better and I think it's cute. Darlene is okay, but it makes me think of the show "Roseanne" which I really hated.Something classic:Darla Caroline
Darla Josephine
Darla Emmeline
Darla Evangeline
Darla Rebecca
Darla Isabelle
Darla Catherine
Darla Louisa
