Jake is okay. From 1999 - 2012, Jacob was the #1 most popular boy name in the USA, so it seems super common as a nickname for that age group and even before. If I associate it with any one person, it is probably the Biblical Jacob who was rather manipulative, but the name is so common it has scores of namesakes.

I don't know who Jake Paul is. I just googled it, but as soon as I saw "YouTuber" I snorted. Nobody will know who that is in 5 years, even if they know now. These internet-famous people are as fleeting as hiccups. (Thank god.) To me, Jake is about as ordinary as it gets. Jacob was the #1 name for boys in the U.S. from 1999-2012, and in the top 10 from 1993-2017, so Jake is ubiquitous where I live. It may as well be a synonym for "teenage boy." I like long A sounds, so I think it sounds nice, but it doesn't stand out at all because it's so common.

I love it, as a nickname for Jacob or just on its own. I knew a girl who's full name was Jake. It's a very unique, good name.

Oof. Jake on a girl.I feel like only some people call pull off certain names, I never heard Jake on a girl. I heard Mason or Asher though.

Jake on a girl seems like it should be short for Jacqueline or Jacintha or something.

As a nickname its alright. Prefer Jackie, but I can see a tomboy Jacqueline deciding she wants to be called Jake or Jack I'm not keen on it myself though, even as a nickname. Jackie is about as far as I'd go... but I'm not overly fond of them as names anyway so

I agree. I really dislike it as a full name anyone, but it works as a nickname quite well.

Whaaat? Jake on a girl actually made me recoil. That's awful, in my opinion.

Why does almost everyone agree that Jake on a girl is weird, but a lot of people like Blake on a girl? If anything I'd say the "Bl" is more masculine than the "J".

"but a lot of people like Blake on a girl?"I suspect that the people who dislike Jake on a girl would also dislike Blake. Personally, I'm not very fond of Blake in general. Bl- seems Scottish to me. I know that Blake is English, but, in general, bl- gives me Scottish vibes.

She was very tomboyish, it actually suited her very well.

So horribly overused. It's one of the most commonly heard names in my area. Every other boy in my daughter's classes has been a Jake or Jacob. And we live on a small cul de sac of just five houses. Two of my immediate neighbors have grandsons named Jake. I'm so over this name.

I much prefer Jake to Jacob. Jake sounds like a laid-back, nice guy; Jacob sounds like a large, angry bully. I'd give Jake a 6 or 6.5/10.I have no idea who Jake Paul is.
