Jonty
What do you think of Jonty? I've known 2: one was a baby at the time (he's probably 13 now), the other was 3 years old (about 7 now). I find it an interesting name. I think it would work really well for a character because it's unusual and memorable, but I think I'd find it too childish on an adult in real life. I'd go 6/10.

Fun as a nickname for Jonathan. It's very, well, jaunty.

Sounds like jauntyI picture a British butler or something, not a little kid. I don't think it's juvenile at all but it does have a specific tone that wouldn't work on most people.

I had a colleague once who celebrated his 30th birthday while we worked together. He was a Jonathan, and when he started working he asked us all to call him Jonty, but nobody could bring themselves to do it. He was tall and well built, and Jonty seemed totally unsuitable for any adult and especially one who looked like him. His behaviour could be immature - he had a psychiatric condition that we only became aware of later - but if anything that made the nn worse. I would rate Jonty 1/10; but I'd only rate Jonathan about 3/10.Thinking, now: Jonty would have been a much more suitable name for an eternal child than Peter, but Peter Pan works so well that Jonty - if it even existed in JM Barrie's day - wouldn't have stood a chance.

Good nickname.

I love it but agree that it’s a bit juvenile. I have trouble picturing it on a grown man.

It's British slang for an officer aboard a (sea) ship. I agree it's childish, but I believe it's also a real name? As a short form of John. It's okay. Prefer Johnny if we're doing that.

I think it's ok, probably more as a nn, 6 out of 10
