Amy doesn't make much sense as it is ah-MAH-ya. So Amy feels forced and you may as well use it on its own.

Maya is a full name so if you wanted that you could also just name her Maya. Same with Ama.

In general this is a no-nickname name for me. It isn't long or complicated so I'd just stick with the full form.

Maya is nice, as is Amy, though I agree it's bland. Here's the nicknames I'd use in order of most likely;

Ammy / Ammie (not Ay-mee, but Am-mee)

Yaya - more for very small children

Aya - also for small children, but I prefer Yaya for that

Maya is the most natural, and I like it. I definitely don't like Amy.
Other options are Ama, Ami (ah-mee, not ay-mee), May (pronounced Mai like in Maya), Aya, or Yaya (baby nickname)

Well, Maya is the most logical nn. But Amaya doesn't really need a nn.
