It feels scruffy and scratchy, like an uncomfortable wool sweater, vaguely orange-brown in colour, like an elderly woman's flat.

I love Tabitha, she's fun and bright, and I enjoy saying the name, it's a pleasing sound.

I love it but not enough to use it on a child. If I were ever to buy or adopt a cat (unlikely as I love parrots) I'd 100% name a female cat Tabitha.

Good Beatrix Potter associations, and a pleasant name; I wouldn't use it because, to me, it's a cat name - nn Tabby of course. My alternative, which I like very much, is Talitha. Amazing what a difference one consonant can make.

Me too! Tabitha is pretty much reserved for my future cat should I have one.

Like Talitha Getty?

It's a biblical reference, so why not? I don't associate it with the Getty family at all - I'd never heard of her. But it's got a feminist history that I find fascinating: in the New Testament, Jesus raises someone from the dead with the words "Talitha, cumi" which means "Little girl (or, Young lady), get up". And in England, 19th-century feminists took this as a slogan for themselves: Rise up through education, through legal reforms, through the franchise ... so women's colleges, clubs and schools often took Talitha Cumi as their name or motto.

Talitha Getty was a model who died young, presumably murdered by her husband (though I don't think he was ever convicted of it - it was under very suspicious circumstances though) so it's got a bit of a tragic connection... for those who have a mild interest in 60s fashion anywayBut the 19th century feminists is a nice connection :)

Ooooh, I think it’s awful. It’s such a whiny sound. Daddy’s little pwincess. It just doesn’t sound good in any language

I like it actually. Not one of my favorites and very unlikely to be used (even as a mn) but I still enjoy it. I'd suggest a cat name, but I don't like using human names on pets
