Re: Japanese forename + surname combinations
in reply to a message by Marusero
I love Japanese names. My favorite individual first names of this list are; Sakura, Megumi, Asuka and Akemi.
The best combos I think are;
Haruna Fujimori (藤森 春菜 [ふじもり はるな])
Sakura Fujimori (藤森 桜 [ふじもり さくら])
Akemi Hidaka (日高 明美 [ひだか あけみ])
Asuka Minami (南 飛鳥 [みなみ あすか])
Megumi Sakurada (桜田 愛 [さくらだ めぐみ])

Thank you for your response! I was just experimenting with some forename-surname combinations.
You're welcome :) Do you prefer Asuka to be masculine or feminine? I forgot to ask I just realised. I was reading it as masculine.
Oh and you seem to be more well-versed on Japanese names than I (I notice you have submitted a few Japanese names), do you consider Megumi to be dated? I heard somewhere that it's dated in the same way that, say, Brittany is. But it's hard to find good Japanese name sites that actually reflect Japanese culture and are not just written by people on the outside looking in.
Of course I might just be looking in the wrong places, but it's worth asking lmao

I personally prefer Asuka to be a feminine name, to be honest.
Also, thank you for your comment on my knowledge of Japanese names, though I do wish to practice the language itself. As for Megumi, I don't think it's as dated as others might think it is, and it's my first time hearing about this.

I really can't say myself, I'm looking at the name from a Western perspective with very limited knowledge. It's one of my favorites, though.
Wish I could link you to where I read that, but I can't seem to find it again lmao
I too want to learn Japanese. I've been trying to learn French, but it's not working as well as I hoped.
However I have noticed I remember / hear Japanese words better than I do French so I think I'd have an easier time. It'd be the script I'd struggle with. I read French easier than listening, but the fast-paced accent and the pronunciation throws me over the wall lmao.
