Here in South Africa I only know of one Brinley, and he is the son of a South African mother and a Welsh father. I've got no idea how or why they picked the name; the mother comes from a family with a tradition of naming children with A names, and this couple went on to have daughters named Alexandra and Abigail. Maybe it was a family name on the dad's side, or maybe they just thought that B was close enough to A!
