Amy
I actually really like this (it reminds me of my other favorites: Lily, Eilidh, Holly, Isla) it actually has a modern feel to it. It is classic but fits in with today's styles.
But it was #2 in the 70s. Weirdly enough it doesn't feel dated to me, at least not very much so (not more so than Holly).
I hate "The Big Bang Theory" (I just find it annoying) do you think people think of the character?
What do you think of Amy?

I’ve always loved the name Amy and find it a classic, timeless name. It doesn’t feel dated to me either, as like I said, I see it as a classic name. Some people might think of “The Big Bang Theory” character, but there will be plenty who won’t. A lovely, lovely name.
I love it! I had a doll I named Amy. I had her go on wild adventures.
Adorable and very sweet, Could totally make a comback cause I think a lot of people like it
Love it, not dated, classic, and wouldn't think of big bang theory
I’m not a fan. The name was really popular when I was at school in the late 80s and through the 90s. I understand entirely that different countries have different spellings of the name but where I live the spelling you choose denotes social class.
I find it a bit too common and boring to use but I actually quite like it. I find Amy simple, with a nice sound to it, and would enjoy hearing it on someone else's child today.
Because it is common (or was, I should say), I think people have way too many associations with it to think of Amy off TBBT.

I like it. I think it's a relatively nice name. It may not be the most exciting name out there but it's also one that isn't controversial or one to be the cause of overwhelming disdain.
And in regards to the tv show, I have to say that I feel the opposite about it as it happens to be one of my favorite series but I don't think the mentioned name is exclusively tied to that particular character. Some will probably think of her but Amy's just one of those versatile names with plenty of other associations.

It’s nice but feels dull and bland. I don’t think it’s that strongly associated with The Big Bang Theory, maybe more Amy from Little Women?
It's very sweet and warm, and it reminds me of apple pie for some reason.
I like Amy. I don't love it and it doesn't excite me, but it's pleasant and pretty enough. It doesn't feel dated necessarily, but it would take me a bit by surprise if I met a baby Amy. I'd adjust quickly, though. It wouldn't be jarring like, say, a baby Melissa would be.
I've never watched the show.

Agree as well.

Agreed
I would like it if it wasn’t so popular where I live. You can’t move for Amy’s! I must have met/know of almost 10 Amy’s! It’s simple and pretty and I don’t mind Aimee either. It was also my great grandmother’s name.
I know 0 characters from the big bang theory and I don’t know a lot of people who watch it so that probably wouldn’t be a problem. If I had to associate Amy with something other than people I know it would be Little women.

It's okay on someone else. It sounds friendly and peppy and yes, a little dated, like a cheerleader from an 80s movie. I definitely prefer Amy to Aimee.
I doubt The Big Bang Theory character will be most people's first thought since Amy is such a common, well known name. Sheldon, on the other hand, might.

Not much of a TV watcher so I have no clue about the character you reference. I always think "Little Women". Amy has certainly been well used over the years. But not to point of turning me off the way some popular names do. I just don't think this name ever loses it's sweetness.
It's way too common for Big Bang to be the only or even the first association people would have with the name. It definitely was much more popular in the 1970s but still doesn't seem really out of date.
But I don't like it; it's like Jennifer and Sarah, almost a placeholder name but not quite. And I picture some little kid with pigtails and a nose that's always running and her hands are always sticky with what you hope is just candy.
