Betty
What do you think of Betty as a full name? It is apparently the name of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' third daughter: the big sisters' names are James and Inez.I myself find Betty very cute and it's probably my favorite nickname for Elizabeth along with Elsie and Beth. However, I only like it as a nickname, not as a full name. But unlike many diminutives in general, I think Betty ages well: I can picture it for anyone from a baby to a grandma.Formerly known as Remora L.

I'm not a fan. For some reason, I've never liked it and it never appealed to me.There was also a poster here years ago who seemed to post continuously about Betty, so I don't think that helped lol. It probably helped cement my disdain.

Totally fine with Betty as a full name, but I’m generally ok with that sort of thing anyway. I do find the sib set such a hodgepodge of names though! James is so masculine to me, so it fits that current androgynous thing some parents like. Inez is more classic, yet underused and different for western culture and Betty is also classic and underused, yet has more of a retro vibe. Such a mixed up set! I mean Inez and Betty work fine together I suppose, but James for a girl just sticks out like a sore thumb! I adore Elsie, it’s a name I loved and had on my list when we were pregnant with our DD. My son Jethro, he’s just turned 6, has a best friend called Elsie, whom he says he’s going to marry! Beth is also lovely, as is Lizzie, Eliza, Betsy and Bessie. There are so many options with Elizabeth!

I get a lot of 1920s vibes from Betty - probably because of Betty Boop. That being said, the name itself is alright. Too old-fashioned for me, but I guess it’s kinda cute.I much, much prefer it as a nickname for Elizabeth rather than a full name.

I always said that if I got a female dog i’d name it Betty or Betsy or Dotty - so I associate those names with each over. I like Betty and even though I wouldn’t use it on a child, I’d like to see someone else named their child it.

Standalone Betty for new babies is growing on me; I think the tv show Riverdale has made it seem more youthful (despite Archie comics having been around since 1939, when an American teen named Betty would have been extremely commonplace). I also think that, although she was a complicated and often monstrous person, Betty Draper on Mad Men was so beautiful-looking that it helped give the name a toe up for the 21st century. I love Elizabeth, the full name, best of all. If I were an Elizabeth and wanted a nickname, I'd use Lizzy or Libby, but Betty is my 3rd favorite nickname for it. Betsy and Bessie are cute for little kids, but I can't deal with them on adults. I hate Beth so much. I don't mind Bess on its own. Bette with one syllable is fine, but I don't like when it's pronounced like Betty (maybe because I took French for 6 years, so it seems incorrect to me). I feel bad for James Reynolds about her name, too, but since she'll be beautiful and rich her whole life, I don't feel *that* sorry for her. I'd definitely rather be named Inez or Betty. Or even Jamie, honestly, as passé as it is in 2020.

I can't picture it on anyone under 40. I don't think it works for a baby, but Bet or Bette (one syllable, nn only) might.

I like it a lot, and I think it ages well, although I can't imagine on a teenager. I like it fine as a full name, but I prefer it as a nickname.Oh -- I feel very bad for James. Her sisters have beautiful names, and her name is just not fit for a girl.

I don't loathe it but I don't like it, especially not as a name on its own. Betsy as a nickname for Elizabeth, however, I really like.

It's definitely going to experience a resurgence in popularity in the United States!I like it, but only as a nickname. I prefer it as a nickname for Beatrice.

Betty is fun, and I hope it makes a comeback. I love Bette, too.

I suppose it could work for any age as a nn; I see it as more grandma than baby. And I don't particularly enjoy it: better than Beth but not as good as lively, dancing Betsy.

I can't picture betty on anyone under sixty. It's a nice name, but a nice Grandma name, not a nice Baby name. I think it's fine as a full name.
It's damn sure a better name than Inez, which sounds like something to do with a nose, or James-on-a-girl; you're not being cute, people, you're being stupid.

Betty is ok. I prefer the look of Bette, but would probably be mispronounced as "bet". James is awful!

I like Bette as well. The pronunciation is problematic as famous BETTEs include Bette Davis (pronounced Betty) and Bette Midler (pronounced Bet). I'm not actually sure which I prefer for that spelling.

I really like it. Even as a stand alone. My daughter and I have discussed the thought that it was ready for a comeback well before the birth of their baby. I love Inez as well. Poor James got the short end of the naming stick in that family.
