Cynthia
Isn't Cynthia kind of nice? No nickname. What do you think?

Kind of nice ... sure. Kind of. Anyway I like Cindy, and don't understand why others don't.
I still feel like Cynthia itself is very midcentury. Feels like it goes with Deborah and Dinah and Beverly and Gloria and Joyce and Judith.
Worse than that though, for me personally, is the "synth" soundalike.
I would rather it pronounced "KIN-thia." Although that'd never happen - I think it'd draw too much attention to the order of consonants.

I like it. It's dated to my generation in the US, and I knew many a Cindy growing up. I've also known a Cynthia who used Cyd and one who went by Cynthy. Both of these women were a bit younger. I've also known a Cinda. Because no Cynthia I've ever known has gone by the full name, it sounds fresh and new to me. And because Cindy was so common for my time, it sounds very everyday to me.Oh, I also knew a Sindy who was trying to convey what a rebel she was.

Yes it’s pretty. Has a little bit of snootiness and of course it’s dated but I think it’s a nice name.

It's too ornate for me, but I do like it! And, yes, no nickname does it justice, especially Cyn!

I was just thinking of it too. It is kind of nice. Cindy is awful, I think. Maybe Thia/Thea could be a nn? I know one that is probably 70 and knew a girl growing up who would be about 35 but she died at 16. I would never use it because of that association but it is uncommon and would be refreshing on a little girl.
