Tancred
I came across this name today and found it quite intriguing. What do you think of Tancred?Formerly known as Remora L.

i used to really like it when I thought it was pronounced like it looks (TAN-cred).
Then when I found out it is said TANG-krid, I stopped liking it. It brings to mind the word "tankard" when said with its actual pronunciation. Also, pronouncing "cred" as "krid" sounds very slang and makes it lose all appeal to me. So, yeah, I would love it if it were actually pronounced how it looks, but since it isn't, I don't like it at all.

I work with a Tancred and find it quite charming. Also like Tancredi and Tancredo.

Sounds too much like "tanked."

It doesn't sound like a name to me. More like an antibiotic or something. Sorry.

Thanks. That made me laugh. Just kind of imagined someone being like, "Well, put some tancred and a bandage on it," and it totally worked.

I've always loved it for its mystery and strength. Too out-there for actual use, at least by me, but I'd love to meet one. No - I'd love to meet several!

It intrigues me, too. I love the meaning and the way the name looks, but it sounds quite dissonant when I pronounce it.

I like it. Tancred sounds very masculine, and I like the meaning "thought and counsel."

Sounds like a company with building supplies.
