Let me see Car + Son... Let's say boy only :P
I did meet a girl Carsyn once. I thought it was such an awkward name for a girl at the time.
Carson on a boy isn't the worst thing out there, but I'm all for surnames as surnames and not as first names.

Don't like it for either one, though I've met both.
Years ago we went to the zoo in Washington DC and this woman was hollering for her son, repeatedly, because he'd gotten away from her. Her whiny midwestern accent and shrillness made her sound like she was yelling "Person! Person! Perrrrsinnnn James!" but she was really calling for Carson James.

I like Carson for a boy. It is a guilty pleasure of mine on a girl, but I will never use it.
