I think outside of Ireland, most people wouldn’t know how to pronounce it if they saw it written down. Also, in some parts of Ireland it’s pronounced KWEE-va, so there’s that pronunciation issue as well.

Yes, that's true. I've listened to it pretty much everywhere all over the internet and it goes from KEE-va to KWEE-va and some even say KWEE-veh (all Irish speakers).
