WDYTO Dexter?
I like Dexter for a pet but I wouldn’t use it in real life. It sounds like a TV name.

It’s very firmly in the pet name category for me, I’m afraid.

My first thought was, Dexie's Midnight Runners, and so my second thought was that I'll be hearing Come On, Eileen in my head for the rest of the day. Which is fine! It's a good song. But as a name, Dexter seriously sucks.

I love it! It’s such a handsome name and so underused. It really gives me a 1920’s or 1930’s jazz era vibe, which I find very appealing.

This is the name of one of my characters I've been working on.To be fair, it's a nice name, but I wouldn't use it in real life.
I don't care much for the tv show...

It personally reminds me of Dexter's Laboratory. I don't care for the name. I would use it for a pet, I think it would be very adorable on a pet.

I love it. I don't find it dorky at all. I think it sounds cool. I do think of the series, which is a shame. Dex is a great and smooth nickname.

Very, very dorky, in an in-your-face kind of way. I dislike it.

I think it sounds goofy. Reminds me of Poindexter.

I love it for a girl. Dex as a possible nickname? Not so much for a guy, makes me think of the series.

I like it fine, the nickname Dex is cute. I do agree with you though, it’s better for a pet. It’s also the name of a character in Keeper of the Lost Cities and he goes by Dex.

It's nerdy but in an appealing way. I'd use the nickname Dex.
