I live in Memphis, so it feels odd as a person's name to me. I love my city, but wonder if people naming their children this have any connection to the city at all.

I don't particularly like it, but for some reason it does strike me as a name that would be more of a girl name? I can understand the flip side on a boy too, though, since it is similar-ish to Dallas. Nicknames? I don't know, you'd have to get creative. Memmy, Emmy?

I really like this name, but only for a boy. I remember meeting one years ago and thought it was a cool name. I don’t think it needs a nn, nor do I think there are any appealing ones. For sibling names, I think nature, virtue or place names would work well. Word based names.

I like the name Memphis. It reminds me of Tennessee, which I dislike, but it also reminds me of Ancient Egypt so that is a huge plus for it.

For siblings, I think I'd stay away from other geological locations so that it doesn't get theme-y.

Makes me think of Elvis. For a boy. Nicknamed Memfy? Or nicknamed Elvis. Memphis, Graceland, and Nashville.

I sort of like it for a boy, but I would never use it.
