Tessa
WDYTO Tessa?
What is a formal name that could give you the nn Tessa, other than Teresa/Theresa?
What MN would you give Tessa (slash the more formal name that gives you the nn Tessa)?
Lilah and Tessa as sisters? Thanks in advance, everyone :)

I like Tessa quite a bit & would be tempted just to use Tessa. My mother was very strongly considering naming me Contessa nn Tess, but I find that a bit much & I'm not a fan of Theresa. Tessa & Lilah would be lovely as siblings as both names have a similar feel and neither are outrageously popular.

I went to school with a girl named Teresa, but prounounced, Ter-EH-suh (not to be confused with Ter-AY-suh). I loved the pronunciation and Tessa goes with it so nicely.

I like Tessa on it's own, it can stand on it's own. It's a very pretty name, but it's also spunky! I think Lilah and Tessa work as sisters. I like Lilah Rhiannon and Tessa Madeleine.

I think Tessa is better as a first name. It's really pretty. And it has it's own nickname, Tess. I just don't like Tessie. Where's the Kaboom? There's suppose to be an Earth shattering kaboom!" -Marvin the Martian.

WDYTO Tessa? I love it, but can't stand Teresa / Theresa. What is a formal name that could give you the nn Tessa, other than Teresa/Theresa? Theodora / Teodora? I'm weird and think that Tess stands on its own better and you could maybe use Tessa as the nickname. What MN would you give Tessa (slash the more formal name that gives you the nn Tessa)? I'm with you, I love Tess / Tessa but don't like Theresa at all.I've thought of Contessa as a full name, and Lilah and Tessa sound terrific as sisters.Tessa Rose

Tessa works very well on its own, particularly with Lilah. Names that could be "full" names for Tessa, if necessary:Tess
Tertia
Contessa (I advise against it)
Constancia
Maritess (the name of a magician I saw on TV once--she was a cute little thing)
Tesla
Tessifer (which has been brought up on this board before, but it's another I'd advise against, myself)
Tessica
Theresia (since "from Theresia" is what's often given as Teresa's meaning; being anti-H, I'd prefer Teresia)
Teratia (ter-AY-sha)
Tesia (TEH-sha)I'm not sure exactly how viable they'd be, but that's a decent list of ideas for you to chew on. :)Array

Do you think that Tessa would age well, on its own? This is why I was thinking it might need a "full" name. Thanks for your list!

I think it would age quite well. It has historical precedent, and it's quite pretty.Array

I love Tessa and prefer it just on its own. (I don't like Theresa for one thing.)

Tessa is fine on its own, I think. I don't think it has to be a nn for Teresa. Lilah & Tessa would be lovely as sisters, imo. I'm not sure why, but I prefer Tess to Tessa, as a given name. Tessa just seems so much frillier than Tess to me. :b
