Alexis or Alexa
Which one for a girl and why?

Alexia sounds pretty, but it’s also the name of a disorder characterized by an inability to read due to brain damage.
Out of those two, I prefer Alexis, regardless of the Amazon product named Alexa, just because I find it more interesting. However, maybe consider Alexandra, Alexandria, Alexandrine, or Alexandrina, because these names are very beautiful and create the opportunity for countless nicknames.
Alexa might be permanently linked to the Amazon device, but I always thought it was a nice, practical name.
I never been a fan of Alexis and I always associated it with the "mean girl" type. (Very high maintenance, lack of personality sort). I feel that it also doesn't age as well as Alexa.

Well, er, Alexa because Alexis is, um, masculine?
Alexa is actually a very lovely, very accessible name: all ages, all stages, everyone likes or used to like it. Its popularity surge did it no good, but I think it can bounce back.
And I once taught a class which contained a male and a female Alexis. They were dating.
