Samuel
Today's name of the day is Samuel. WDYT?
Personally, I have never understood the Samuel hype. Or the Samantha hype. Or Samson, or Samara... And the "Sam" part is entirely to blame. I don't know what it is about the sound of "Sam" that repulses me, but it does.

I’m kinda indifferent towards Samuel. Knew a guy by that name once and he was super weird and that has probably coloured my view of this name. IIRC I liked it better before I met him.
That said, I actually love Sam.

Love it
I like Sam but do not like Samuel.
I'm probably a bit biased, but I like it well enough. I wouldn't use it for obvious reasons, but if my name weren't Samantha, I think it would be in consideration. I only get called Sam by people who don't know me well and who insist on shortening my name for some reason. So, Sam feels separate from my name (in my mind). Sam feels friendly. A good name for a best-friend character. I also think of Jake Gyllenhaal's character in The Day After Tomorrow.
Sam is a boring, sleepy sound, like a too-warm, too-soft palm. I've never really liked it, but I've known lots of smart Sams.
Samuel is nicer than Sam. A little.
I know a young Samson (3? 4?) whose parents are both really tall. He's called Samson and Sambone. I like it - it suits him and his parents.

This was my #1 boys' name for years when I was younger. I still like it but now I use it as a middle because I find the -uel part a bit awkward these days, I don't know why. I still enjoy hearing it as a first name though because, to me, it's handsome and classic
Oh I love Sam for a boy! It seems like such a friendly, happy name to me, always has. Samuel is great, Samson is good, Samantha is nice. Not a fan of Samara though.
It is the classic good guy best friend name. Samuel/Sam is rarely the name of the hero, but he is often the nice guy that helps the hero. The heros savior, maybe?
It is my sons mn, so I love it!
It’s my son’s name, so I obviously love it enough to use it.
love it, love Samantha, Samson and Samara too
