Ellery
Do you see Ellery as more male or more female (or purely gender-fluid)? With what names would you pair Ellery in a combo if it were used for a make or if it were used for a female?Sparrow

I prefer Ellery for a boy. It's very romantic sounding. But it has "turn me into a girl's name" written all over it. And it is a variant of Hilary which is already there. Ellery Thomas

Ellery Bartholomew
Ellery Stephen
Ellery Jasper

Vegetable. But seriously, I see it more as a girl’s name with it ending with a y.

Ellery QueenEllery makes me think of the pseudonym Ellery Queen, which was used by two mystery authors. Ellery Queen was also the name of the titular character in a tv show that was similar to Murder, She Wrote but with a young male protagonist. Although Ellery Queen was male, the name sounds more girlish because of the feminization of similar names like Ashley, Aubrey, and Audrey.

The only Ellery I have ever met has been a boy. Not sure if that helps.
