Blair
Thoughts on Blair for a girl?
Replies
My comment on the page for the name Blair is still an opinion I hold 5 years later:
"Due to the influence of the classic name Claire, when I hear Blair I immediately think the bearer is female. But I still don't think I'd ever use it. For me, Blair is one of those names where I love the idea so much more than the reality - it looks really classy and sophisticated when written out, but once I hear it I think of car horns or sirens 'blaring.' It could make a really nice middle name, though."

Too much like Blare (as in, Blaring, = burst of unpleasantly loud, unpleasant music) in appearance, and identical in sound. Avoid!

Hate
I find the sound strident.

I love it, but unfortunately its a bit politically charged where I'm from (Tony Blair) so it's a name I've had to strike off me list
Blair Witch.
Tony Blair.
Sound of vomit.
I'm out.
Unless it's a special family last name / former maiden name, I just don't get it.

I like it, though if I ever used it, it would probably be as a middle name. I prefer the spelling Blaire, as Blair feels incomplete.
I agree
I like it, but spelling it Blair disturbs me for some reason. I prefer it spelled Blaire.
