Guilty pleasure name. WDYT, as a nickname?

Not my style, it would be ok on the right person, though

I have a dog named Dandelion and call her Dandie a lot. It's my first thought. I think it works fine as a nickname.

As a nickname for what? Since it sounds exactly like dandy, I find it ridiculous as a name.

I don't like it, even as a nickname. I think of the word "dandy" and "Yankee Doodle Dandy" as mentioned by another poster.I do like the nickname "Dodie" though.

Too much like the creepy AHS character Dandy Mott

I dont care for it one bit, all I can think of when is see/ hear it is Yankee Doodle Dandy.
"Yankee Doodle went to town a-riding on a pony, stuck a feather in his cap and called it macaroni.
Yankee Doodle keep it up, yankee Doodle Dandy, mind the music and the step and with the girls be handy."

I think it's silly. I once worked with a Jande, pronounced JAN-dee. That was her full name and not a nickname. So of course I had to ask her how she received this unusual name. She said her mother coined it as a combination of her own name, Jamie, and her favorite name, Amanda. Then Jande made a remark along the lines of her mother must have been on drugs. Anyway point being, I prefer Jande to Dandie.

Jande is cool.

Okay, I have to admit, I actually like Jande. It’s cute.

Yeah, it is cute. And I don't mind Candy as a nickname for Candace or Candice. Dandie, though.....must be the repeated D sound and the word "dandy". Unlike the word "candy", it's a hokey word that isn't really used seriously.

Only as a nn.

It’s not terrible, but it immediately brings to mind the Christmas song by Dolly Parton, Hard Candy Christmas.
“I’ll be fine, and dandy, boy its like a hard candy Christmas, I’m barely getting through tomorrow...”DH loves the song so we hear it quite a bit throughout the Christmas season :)

It could work as a nickname for a small child, I guess.

It would be overly cutesy even on a pet. On a person, even a little kid, it sounds like baby talk. Just a step above (or not) Honey Boo Boo.
