I prefer Madeleine because I don't like the pronunciation confusion with Madeline, and I don't think I've ever met anyone who pronounces it with the EYE ending.
I think overall I actually prefer the American spelling Madelyn! I wouldn't consider it "kre8ive," though there was a time when I would have. The "leine" thing doesn't really exist in English, and -lyn makes more sense.

Madeleine, I prefer the look and pronunciation of this spelling.
Madeline. Less fussy and easier to spell.

I'd think Madeleine would be pronounced "mad-uh-LAINE" and I like that better.
I prefer Madeleine because there is less pronunciation confusion. Madeline can be mad-uh-LIN or mad-uh-LINE (which I don't like as much).
