I think I'm too reminded of Malcolm-in-the-Middle to ever use it, but I like it in general.

Malcolm is one of my very favorite names for a boy, and is probably the most enduring name in my short list. My main associations are Malcolm X and Captain Malcolm Reynolds from Firefly. A huge portion of my PNL are M- and N-heavy names, and Malcolm is clearly in the former category.I've played around with a few combos over the years:Malcolm Elliott
Malcolm Caleb
Malcolm James
Malcolm Charles
Malcolm Cameron
Malcolm Thomas
Malcolm Timothy
Malcolm Leo
Malcolm Leonard
Malcolm Leopold
Malcolm Edmond
Malcolm Esmond
Malcolm Desmond
Malcolm Damian

It always reminds me of of man I once saw in a tv series. A burly man with a good soul. I think he was a woodworker. He went by the nickname Mal. I like the name because of him.

I like it - started to after encountering a small boy with the name. It just seemed really cool to me.
It's pretty rare for me to think a name is old and clunky, and then suddenly see it as cool, but that's what happened.
I used to think Malcolm was one of these "stiff and cranky old guy" (imo) names like Arthur and Walter and Herbert ... but then I saw it on the child and it seemed to transform into a "strong man-name that suits a rebellious youth too" - more along the lines of Henry or Gordon or Oscar.
I think brothers Malcolm and Duncan would be cool.

Well, if that isn't me and Hazel! lol I used to think it was a crotchety old lady name, but then I saw it used for a very young character (baby, actually) in a fanfic I read once; now it's in my PNL!

I like it a lot. Mal is a good nickname, even though I know it means "bad" in other languages.

Looooove :)
I would have used it in a heartbeat but DH wasn’t too fond of it.

It gives a mild, somewhat dithery impression, in spite of Macbeth's nemesis. I don't exactly mind it, but I'd never use it.

It's a very handsome name. I like that its recognizable but not too popular.
