Dinah & Camellia
Just two names that have been on my mind. What are your thoughts on them? Thanks in advance!

Dinah used to seem ridiculous to me (because of the song Roxstar mentioned), but now it doesn't. I can see it as being similar to Alma, Dorothy, Diane.I like Camellia. It's sunny, although it does seem a bit ostentatious...like, I think of ruffles. It was my grandmother's MN.

I like the idea of sunny ruffles. Thank you!

Dinah is growing on me. It seems spunky and distinctive.Camellia is beautiful. Love the plants and Cami is a sweet nickname.

Cami is a great nickname! Thank you.

Dinah is sweet and old-fashioned. I wouldn't personally use it, but it is a friendly name. Camellia, on the other hand, is gorgeous and lovely.

Thank you :)

I like Camellia. Dinah is pretty but I don't think its ready for a comeback, it'd be a great cat name. I went to school with a Camellia (actually I think it was Kamelia), I think it's really pretty and a nice alternative to the more common flower names. I also really like Camilla.

Dinah would definitely be a great cat name. I like Camilla too, but I’m not sure about the royal association. Thank you!

I like Camellia. Hate Dinah.
I think Camellia is pretty, distinctive, and you can use Cami, Mia, even Mila as nn’s, which are cute.
I just hate Dinah. It’s so ugly to me, too close to Diane and Diana which are also super ugly.

Aw, I like Diana — like the goddess! Thank you.

I like Dinah a lot: strong and bright and unpretentious. We named a cat Alice because she was a little rescue tabby, an alley cat in fact; some years later we adopted a kitten and named her Dinah after Alice's (Wonderland) cat. Also the name of a distant great-great aunt. The only point against it is that it mostly shortens to Di, which is depressing.Camellia is too fancy and too floral, as well as redolent of dying sopranos and reminiscent of Kipling's camel and its camelious hump. I far prefer Camilla.

You’re right, Di is pretty depressing. Oh no, I hadn’t thought of camelious! Thanks!

Camellia isn't ugly but it feels affected, very faux-Southern Belle, like Magnolia. Camille or Camilla/Camila is much nicer.
Dinah is ugly. It's like a Boston person saying diner, and of course there's the song about working on the railroad: "Someone's In the Kitchen With Dinah" and later "Dinah, won't you blow?" I don't see any really good reason to ever use Dinah.

I also don’t dislike Magnolia! Thanks.
