Re: Magnolia
in reply to a message by Lapin
A friend of a friend has a toddler named Magnolia.I feel as if I should like it, because magnolias are possibly my fav tree, and it'd fit in with other names I like (Willow, Gardenia, Magdalene, Noa), but I don't.There were two gigantic (70 ft?) magnolia trees in my childhood yard, and my mom was forever despairing about the fallen leaves and cones; so in the back of my mind, I think Magnolias are messy, plus something about the sound seems heavy...yet I think Mags is cute.Other associations: I think of the song "Strange Fruit", which doesn't help; Steel Magnolias is better but not great, and that's a lot more vague to me.
My favorite of the combos is Magnolia Faye, strangely. I don't usually like Faye.
Magnolia Renee is the full name of No Doubt's drummer's daughter.
I would avoid pairing it with Sadie, because connotations "Sister Sadie" + magnolia associations seem bad to me.Phyllis Magnolia
Prosper Magnolia
Nellie MagnoliaActually, I do like it a bit as a middle name. It has a vibe of grandness, like Gloria does.
