Fern
WDYT? I think it is beautiful. It is a name of a family friend. She goes by Fernie.
Any combos?
I like:
Fern Cecelia and Cecelia Fern
Fern Celeste
Fern Camille
Fern Kathryn

I know an elderly woman, a distant cousin, named Clara Fern, and I always thought that was so pretty. She is called by both names, "Clara Fern."

It's always struck me as silly the way Daffodil and Buttercup are silly. But it's somehow worse, because while ferns are pleasant, they aren't pretty like daffodils and buttercups, IMO.

I like Fern a lot. The only issue I could see is some people mishearing “Vern”.I like all of your combos except Kathryn.

I really like it as masculine.
It seems almost ironic as a feminine name, but I still like it...it's the same age as Laverne, then, and has a no-nonsense vibe like Frances; it also reminds of Hazel.

It sounds a bit lackluster, but it can balance out a long and frilly first name, like Cecilia or Cecily.

Less sentimental than, and therefore preferable to, most vegetation names. I prefer Fern as a nn for Fernanda.

Fern Cecelia is a gorgeous combo and I'd happily use it myself.

I really don’t like it at all :(The first and only lady I’ve ever known named Fern, was a very old lady friend of my grandma’s, when I was a kid. She was odd, had several cats, always had cat hairs on her, and smelled funny. LolI’ve know of two guys who went by Fern, and both were named Fernando. I don’t like it for a guy or a girl.
