Re: Audra, Brock, Clint
Audra is one of my favorite names. I just love the way it sounds. It reminds me of someone I knew once. Her own personal style was sort of "country," which isn't my style, but I vaguely still feel like the name could fit that style ... even though I don't believe it generally does. It's more like a 70s update of an older classic - Audra instead of Audrey - so it's sort of in a category with names like Eden (which isn't Edith but borrows something from it somehow), Erin (which isn't Ellen or Helen), Janelle (not Janet or Janice), Alison (not Alice), and Tara (not Theresa).Brock - it's not my style. Just too heavy, block-y/rock-y, cold and surnamey a sound for me, and doesn't appeal to me as a first name. I don't loathe it, but it's one I'd think of if asked for least favorites, because it's an exemplar of a type of name I generally don't go for.Clint - even though Eastwood has only been on the margins of my consciousness, the name seems Eastwood-inspired. Sort of seems to try for a tough and quiet image ... Vaguely aggressive but not obnoxiously so, as it's a "look," not so much the impression I get from the name itself. I'd otherwise think it was clipped, chipper, surnamey, short for slightly-stuckup Clinton. so, this is also sort of "country" to me... I imagine a Clint having brothers like Russ, Kyle, Trent, Wade, Cliff, Clay.- mirfak
