Imelda

I think it's soo pretty, and reminds me of a flame, a fire.
Marcos is my first association too, but I don't mind the name over all. It reminds me of molten metal and glass bowling for some reason.
I think it's too Marcos. Too much notoriety.
And even if I didn't mind that, I think it's unappealing. I just don't really go for the sounds/shapes in it - reminds me of names like Irma, Griselda, Inez, Enid, Phyllis, Dinah, Thelma. It feels very midcentury, and just really nms.
It's an interesting name, though.

Speaking as a person with some Filipino ancestry...
...nah.
...nah.
I didn't get the Marcos reference. It doesn't remind me of anything except similar looking and equally unfamiliar names - Azelma, Demelza, Isolda. It mainly looks like a name from a fairytale or medieval romance, to me. The words 'meld' (plus mind meld & welding) and 'melt' come to mind also, which makes me vaguely dislike it.

Imelda is gorgeous, I love it. The actress Imelda Staunton is actually the first person I think of with this name, long before Marcos.
No idea what the reference to Marcos is, but looking at replies, it has something to do with shoes. You can take this as I do not think of shoes when hearing the name Imelda.
I... kinda like Imelda. It's too heavy for me to personally consider it as a baby name (assuming this is what your combo is for) but it has a charm. It's quite a witchy name and I just happen to enjoy names that evoke witches and magic and Imelda in particular evokes nature magic for some reason. She's a green mage with a barn owl familiar.

The reference is to Imelda Marcos, who up till 1986 was the wife of Ferdinand Marcos, president/dictator of the Philippines. His government was extremely corrupt and he totally plundered the economy. They lived VERY luxuriously and gaudily, and Imelda's passion was shoes and she had thousands of them, and tons of jewelry too. All this while most of the country's citizens were just managing to survive.
its ok, shoes to me too
Shoes.
But I'm pretty sure that many people won't have that association anymore.
It's oretty.

I guess it’s alright. It’s nice in Spanish and Italian, but it looks unattractive in English (for me, at least).
