Grateful
Do you think Grateful works as a name for a girl?(Somebody is named this. I talked to this person.)

It sounds very Puritan! Like a character in a Thanksgiving play.It also sounds convincingly African, where word names - in southern African countries anyway - are frequently used and range from Beauty and Pretty to Psychology and Furniture.

When used as a name, somehow my mind jumps straight to the Grateful Dead. Though I don't really even know much about the band. Feels kinda weird. But it's better than Thankful?

I knew sisters named Thankful and Faithful, they would be in their 70s/80s.Also knew a Wonderful, Delight, Winsome, Happy, and Verily. So I can see Grateful.

Gray could be okay, but the possibility of Grate...eek.My instinct is to say I don't like it, and I immediately imagine someone bitter, but I honestly have no idea how I'd react to it IRL. I hate names like Honor and Patience on paper, but when I hear them IRL, I love them (I met a teenager Patience this summer and heard a little kid being called Honor yesterday).
