It's fine; very Scottish, where it started out as a form of Jean or Janet, not Jessica. So I don't automatically think of it as being short for Jessica - it seems like an independent name. And I rather like it. Perhaps because I once knew a most delightful Scottish terrier named Jess? She had Scottish owners!
