It reminds me too much of the healthcare provider, EmblemHealth. Though truth be told, I still wouldn't care for it even without the association. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue too smoothly. Ember sounds nicer and that's saying something. /:

I have to agree with the others, despite its history and origin it just looks and sounds too much like a modern and trendy mashup. I prefer Embla (f) & Emlyn (m).

I think if Em- names and -lyn names hadn’t been nauseatingly popular for so long I might like it more, but from my current perspective it just seems like a combination of trendy elements. I usually appreciate Welsh names like this even if I don’t necessarily like them (Carys, Arwyn) but this one is difficult.

It's one of those names that, even though it is an actual ancient Celtic/Welsh name, it doesn't look like it. I don't think it's nice. It does sound like a kid's misponunciation of emblem, and it looks like a modern mashup name like Emberlyn or Amberlee.

Despite its history, it sounds awfully modern to me, and the "bl" sound is particularly unpleasant.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it hard to say...I automatically add a syllable, making it Embelyn / Embilyn, instead.

It vaguely reminds me of Embla, which I like, but most *lyn names (the main exception is Gwendolyn) are boring to me.

Unfortunately it comes across more as a combination of trendy elements or a strange degredation of emblem than as anything with actual history, whatever the truth may be. Therefore it strikes a sour note with me.
