Calan
My brother's middle name is Alan, and one day I just randomly thought of the name Calan to honor him in a way. Do you think it is stupid, nice, tacky....?? I knew a guy in college whose last name was Callen, and I always thought it would be a great first name. WDYT? Also, would Kalan be a better (or worse) spelling perhaps?

A boy in my Language Arts/History block is named Callan. He's from South Africa. I think it's a nice name.

I've heard of this name before. A classmate of mine's brother is named this and also this guy I play sport with. I suggest it would be spelt with two L's (to get the pronounciation right, like Calla) so like Callan or Callun.

Imho Calan doesn't honor Alan. Alan does. But I'm strict about namesakes; I don't care for the convuluted "this names isn't your name but it honors you names stuff." Doesn't makes sense to me.Calan is... ok. I prefer Colin. Or Calvin. Or Cailean.

Hmm...Kind of reminds me of Colin.
I think it may be mispronounced as kay-lin, which would be very unforunate because Calan is a nice name. I suggest Callan instead of Calen or Kalen, simply because it would make pronunciation easier.
