Cecil
Do you prefer the British (Sehs-əl) or American pronunciation of Cecil (See-səl)? Which one are you more likely to use? What are your thoughts on the name?Do you have preferences about the spelling? (extra L's, E's?)

SEHS-əl, definitely. While I prefer the feminine forms, Cecilia or Cecily, Cecil is quite nice in a "wartime/interwar period jazz singer or aristocrat who dies of influenza" kind of way.

I’ve always loved it although it’s so different from the ‘usual’ names I like. It has a soft sound (I prn it Seh-səl) yet there’s is that “je ne sais quoi” that I can’t put my finger on. Cecil Earnest ❤️

My father was, I think, one of the last Cecils: he unsurprisingly always used the British pronunciation. I've never heard the American version used in South Africa. In fact, the only time I have heard it IRL was in Northumberland, where his uncle used it, though the rest of the relatives didn't.In spite of the family link, I find Cecil very dated (and politically incorrect: Cecil John Rhodes!). But, given enough daughters, I'd have been very glad to use Cecily, though not frilly Cecilia.

One of the most aggravating, immature people I have ever met is named Cecil (See-səl); the other people on that list were teenage girls, and he's in his 30s.It'd be an okay name if I'd never met him, seems in the category of names like: Silas, Basil, Cyrus.I'm not going to be using it anytime soon, but I'd prefer to hear Sehs-əl.

British. Don't like the name, I wouldn't add extra letters

I didn't even realize that Cecil was ever pronounced See-səl... I hate that lol. Seh-səl is the only way I can think of it. I reluctantly like Cecil. It has a sort of clammy, stuffy, frail quality to it... but it's also cute and teddy-bear-ish. So, overall, I'm mixed. It's on my PNL but... idk. It's always overshadowed by Cyrus to me... even though they aren't actually that similar they somehow feel similar to me.
