Tova/Tove
What are your thoughts on Tova or Tove? Inspired by Tove Jansson but I find myself leaning towards Tova, to avoid Tove being pronounced to rhyme with cove in English speaking countries. Thank you for your thoughts!

I like both, but keep thinking 'toa' (toilet in Swedish) when it comes to Tova. I know people with both names though.

'Toa' is something to bear in mind. How are the names perceived generally in Sweden, if you don't mind my asking?

I'd say that Tove is more dated than Tova. I'd expect a Tove to be somewhere between 25-35 or so, while a I'd expect Tova to be somewhere from 0-25. I've never heard anything negative about either name. Lova (girl) and Love (boy) are also common here.

I love it. :) Mostly because of Tove Jansson. I see her brightly colored paintings and her little house on Klovharu island when I think of this name. I agree that Tova (or Tuva, perhaps) would be best in an English speaking country, which is unfortunate cuz I much prefer Tove.

Her name evokes beautiful imagery, doesn't it? The spelling of Tuva would very likely work better in English! I much prefer Tove too, though.

It's short & suitable with Nordic surnames and with the right pronunciation, TOO-veh.
Personally, I prefer Thura or Thale, TOO-rah & TA-leh.

Thura and Thale are fascinating :)

I do love Tove Jansson, but I'm not very fond of her name.

It's short and sweet, but I prefer Nova

I have to say, I'm surprised at the popularity of Nova!
