Hah, "loose" doesn't bother me as much as "lotion". Although I think of "Lucy + an" more than "Loose + ian" or "Loosy + n" with the 3 syllable pronunciation. (I kind of luke Luci as a nn for either one, but it also kind of looks like a mom name)

It's weird how people are sensitive to sounds & associations as differently as we are. Every opinion is just one data point.
To me Lucian doesn't sound remotely like "lotion." I'd never have made that connection.
It's only the shan in Lucian, that makes the Loo part tolerable for me!
I can't hear Lucy without hearing the "loose" in it. Righty-tidy (I know it's "tighty" but same sound), lefty-Lucy (loosey).
I've always felt Lucy sounded sloppy because of that.
