Colette
What are your thoughts on Colette? It’s not normally my style, but I haven’t been able to get it out of my head the past few days.I remember loving the name Nicolette as a kid. I still like it, but as I’ve gotten older, it probably seems too reminiscent of Nicorette.Thoughts on either name?

I heard a kid being called Colette today, and I didn't hate it.One of my childhood friends had the MN Nicolette, and I remember she didn't like it. I thought it seemed fancy (like, in comparison to Nicole) and harsh (probably because of nicorette + col reminds of cold). Colette reminds me of the author and also seems industrial to me, usually.

I love it. I think it’s quite pretty while also being rather timeless. I easily picture it on a baby, child, teen, adult, or senior. It on my list as a very “safe” option where like I’m not gaga over it but I would very happily bestow it on a child with zero regrets. Plus I just love “Lettie” and this is the only full name I truly like for that.

I prefer Nicolette, and I wouldn't worry about the Nicorette association.

I like Colette! It feels a little 1970s, but not in a bad way. I had the combo Eleanor Colette in my Top 10 for a time.Nicolette is okay. I vastly prefer it to Nicole, but still perceive the "Nic" sound as masculine.

I love Colette, for both the writer and the saint. And I knew a wonderful nun with the name as well.IT's very much a favorite. Nina Colette.

Colette was my favorite name for a long time! I still really like it but it's not quite as high on my list anymore. Not huge on Nicolette... it might be the Nicorette similarity. I prefer both Colette AND Nicole / Nicola over Nicolette, tbh.

The name of a French dog lmao if not the name of a snooty French woman I wouldn't worry about Nicolette being similar to Nicorette because Nicolette as a far longer history as a name and is established as one even in English speaking countries, so I don't think there'd be a problem

Colette is ok, Nicolette maybe, but now I've got the Nicorette association in my head

I think it's charming, it reminds me of the French author Colette, and the eponymous film with Keira Knightley (which had terrible writing and acting, but incredibly pretty costumes and sets). It sounds very delicate, and I usually like stronger sounding names, but Colette is an exception.
