Meh. I prefer Eleanor or Helena. Helen is old and fusty, while Helena and Eleanor are youthful and very elegant!

I'd be delighted to use it. It's got everything! OK, it also shortens to Hel, but that probably wouldn't last very long. And it's so much more convenient than Helena with its multiple pronunciation issues; not to mention the face that launched a thousand ships. Much nicer that stodgy Ellen, too. Given enough daughters, one would have been Helen for sure. Helen Susannah Joy. Oh yeah.

I prefer Helena, but Helen is nice too. It sounds very solid and classic, and I like the mythology association.
