It’s one of those widely-used classics that has somehow maintained its high-class feel, sort of like Elizabeth. So I’d say it rides the line between your two descriptions, actually. Usually when names get used a lot their shine dulls and they travel downward through the socioeconomic classes until people get tired of them and move on. But for some reason it still feels fresh.
I love it and it’s in our top two if we ever have another girl. It helps that it’s a family name for me.
I like Sandy, Andy and Andra as nns. Alex is a little tired and Lexi sounds low class to my ear.
