WDYT of Brooklyn?
I love Brooklyn, on either gender. I really love it for a boy at the moment. WDYT of it? I can picture myself with a Brooklyn (boy), totally. Problem is I also have Romeo down, which I can also see me with. I have 4 boys' names picked out (well 3 so far). Brooklyn, and Romeo are two, that i'm 100% sure about using on my boys.
Thing is is it too "Beckham" (Ok stupid question, I know people wil lsay yes, lol), I admire, David Beckham a lot, I am a fan. I didn't however get the names from him, I've liked Brooklyn, and Romeo before he ever had children. My mother, and father say it's not too bad, and I should name them that if I want, they say who cares if he has the same names, you don't know him. Which is true, I know people will say "Oh like the Beckhams sons'" or "Big Beckham fan eh?" but I don't care, I love them too much (the names).
So WDYT? so far I have River (Riv), Romeo (Rome), and Brooklyn (Brooks). I need one more name, what would go good with this sibset?
"There is none Holy like The Lord, there is none besides Thee; there is no Rock like our God." (1 Samuel 2:2 RSV)

I strongly dislike the name Brooklyn on several different levels, it's strikes me as cheesy and trendy. I'm not really a fan of random place names in general, and I can't imagine naming a child after one of the burrows...even if I had a connection to NYC- but I suppose it has a better ring to than Bronx ;) Furthermore, I think that the Beckham connection is beyond obvious when paired with Romeo. Frankly it doesn't really matter if you like the names before they were used by the Beckhams, because it *will* look like you copied...but I suppose you could always open with "I liked these names way before Becks and I didn't copy!" prior to introducing your children... I must say, wow, what a coincidence that someone you happen to be a big fan of used your long time favorite names for his sons, especially considering that they are both quite unusual names to name little boys! Maybe it's fate!
I think the nickname Brooks is a little foolish in a sibset with the name River, though I admittedly think any less than subtle theme in sibsets reeks of cheese.
This is all on top of the trendy vibe that the name has in my opinion...with the ever popular 'lyn' tacked on, a little 'Brooks' is sure to get lost in a sea of Everythinglyn's.

:) it was weird! when they announced the birth of Brooklyn, i was like WHAT, that's the name i was gonna use same with Romeo...creepy (Romeo would have been named Paris if a girl, and I has that also down, but Paris I took from Michael Jackson i admit that...LOL) The others shocked me especially Romeo I was like who'd name their kid that? like really..besides me..LOL, and obivously he did. :).

Yes, it's hopelessly celebrity-following and trendy. If they'd named their sons Jack and Matthew no-one would blink, but since they're such unusual names, *everyone* will believe they're named directly after Beckham's kids. Sorry, but he got there first and copying him is just silly.
I don't really like Brooklyn but there's nothing really wrong with it except for the fact that it's an uber-trendy Somethinglyn name. If it's used I prefer to see it on a girl. Romeo is nmsaa but River is ok.
Btw, saying "please respond" is aggravating and off-putting. Why should we respond just because you say so? People will respond if they WANT to respond, and not because you nag them to. The more you order people around, the fewer the number of people who will bother responding. Plus, it makes you look bossy and rude.

well excuse me! I only did it twice, sorry for posting! I'm not "making" anyone it's still their choice to repind or not, I just really needed opinions. I won't do it anymore.
I'm not copying him by the way, who cares if he got to it first? I'm sure tons of people have sibsets that celebrites have the same.
I know it's your opinion, but you don't have to be rude about it.
(I'm learning to be careful too)

That wasn't rude, just brutally honest. If I'd said anything about *you*, rather than my opinion of your name choices, it would have been rude; but you can't choose what my opinion will be, thanks.
I'm not the only person in this thread to reprimand you for demanding opinions.

I honestly did think it was demanding, or looked like it, I guess it could have been, I've seen others do it, so I thought that people didn't mind. No brutally honest can still be kind. I'm not talking about the actual names itself. saying that i'm copying him was rude.
ETA: it's nothing to fight over though, thanks for replying to my post.

No, we do mind, and people get told off for it all the time.
I wasn't trying to be rude (it's my opinion that using those names is silly, regardless of WHO uses them), and I feel very strongly that you're using my opinion as an excuse to attack me, after how unpleasant you were the last time I had an opposing opinion to you.

No i'm not using it as an excuse trust me, I honestly felt that part was a bit rude. I see I didn't know it really bothered everyone, I won't do it anymore :).
ETA: I wasn't trying to attack either, sorry if it came out like that.

It irks me when people beg for responses. Sorry, Sabrina. I'm replying because I want to offer my opinion and hopefully help you out with your names, not because you just had to ask for it.
That being said: I don't like Brooklyn on anything, boy or girl. I do, however, like Cruz and Romeo. I know you said you can't use Cruz if you use the other two, but if you drop Brooklyn, you can. I agree with Bear that the Brook - River thing might be a bit much.
Suggestions to go with River, Romeo, Brooklyn, or Cruz (asterisks by my faves):
Lir
Rameses
Javor*
Linton
Oren*
Ortzi
Astor*
Koray

Oh I LOVE the names you've picked out!
I really like Romeo and Cruz myself, and was wondering the same thing: If it is too Backham... But I don't think I'll ever use Cruz as a fn. I might use Romeo.
River (Riv) is great :)
Romeo, I wouldn't use a nn, I love it :D
Brooklyn is very nice, I would use no nn or Brook, not Brooks
The last sib suggestions: (I'll just suggest some of my favs, since the ones you listed were all on my list, I'll leave out Cruz :P)
Dante
Bronte
Bowen (Bo/Bowie?)
Connor
Coen (or Koen, it's pr. KOON)
Torquil
Thorsten (Thor)
Prospero (Pros?)
Ramses (Ram?)
Oberon (Obi?)
Graham
Orion
Omar
Camden
Constantine
Bailey
Galahad (Gad?)
Boaz (Bo)
Kyler (Kyle?)
Sage
Scott
Are any of these any good?

THANKS! :) It makes be feel better, I feel that this is the final list coming together! :). I like Cruz, but since i'm using the other two that's a huge no..LOL too bad too cause I'm portuguese it would have worked (Cruz is Spanish & Portuguese)
I love Camden, and Sage, but so far nothings "jumped" out at me yet, i'll keep them in mind though!

As a place name, I see brooklyn as a girl's name. I'm just used to place names belonging to girls.
I like some place names. But Brooklyn is very unattractive to my ears. And it's not as if Brooklyn is a scenic destination. No offense to Brooklynites, but it isn't the first place to pop to mind when I think of beautiful places.
But my biggest objection to the name is its uber-trendiness, if that's a word. Of all the place names of the current trend, I think Brooklyn will wear the worst over time. Sorry.

I like Brooklyn on a boy, i really dont like it on a girl. Romeo i detest though because its really horribly trendy and i find it tacky.
The only other problem with that sib set is that you have River & BROOKlyn (River & Brook) which you might be cool with, but Romeo is really out of place with it.

When I think of Brooklyn, here are the things I think of:
1) David and Victoria Beckham
2) The bridge
3) The borough in New York
4) The Dodgers
5) Ned Asher and Lois's daughter on 'General Hospital'
I really don't like it as a name. Brooke and Lynn are both overwhlemingly used for girls nowadays and it's hard to take a little boy Brooklyn seriously.
Using Romeo and Brooklyn together reeks of Beckham. People will start asking where Cruz is. Using Brooklyn and River together sounds like their names were picked from a map. The problem with using Romeo and River together is that it would seem that you would use a third name that starts with an 'R'. The sib-set seems off-kilter with Brooklyn in there.
As for one more name, for a girl, I'd say Meadow. For a boy, Ashton.
