Re: Augusta & Olympia

I think Augusta Jacqueline is the nicest.
I don’t like Gus for a girl... at all... I don’t like it on a male either, but I think it’s almost horrid on a girl. I hope if you did use it you wouldn’t use it for a nickname. Lol

To be fair, nicknames that you think of beforehand don't always end up being used. We always wanted to name our eldest THeodora with the nicknames of Theo or Teddy. Teddy did not stick at all, we didn't even call her that once! It didn't suit her. She gets called Theo by hubby but will never call herself Theo. So Augusta could end up with no nickname (like Theodora) or Augie or Gus or some other random one!
I definitely agree. My daughter gets called by a nickname so often, a family friend actually did not know until she was 4 that it wasn’t her real name!
And 2 of my sons have nicknames not even related to their names, they simply “fit”. Sort of like “buddy” or “scooter”.

My brother is 32 and has gone by the nickname Chin since he was about 5. It came about because my cousin couldn't say Christian and it sounded like ChitChin lol.
I think some of my friends don't even know what his real name is lol.
