I'm not sure if I'd like it if the singer didn't exist. I had never heard the name before the singer so I didn't have any associations. The only thing I think is weird is that it's spelled Beyoncé but everyone pronounces it with the accent on the "on" syllable. Why is there an é if it doesn't do anything?

it does do something ...It lets you know you are supposed to say the last e, and that the name is three syllables and not Bee-YONS.

The é gives it the extra syllable on the end... the “ay” sound.

I think the é is there because it was in her mother's maiden name which is... Beyincé I think? But also to let people know her name is BEH-YONS-AY rather than BEH-YONS lol.
