I was looking for names for my twins due in January and I came across the name Baylor. What do you think? Boy or girl? Baylor or Bayler? Do you like it?

I don't like this name at all. When I saw it, I immediately thought of a person bailing someone out of jail. So that's not a very pleasant connection.

I don't like it. It's not on the name data base on this website... so I don't think it's a "real" name. It just seems like an attempt to make Taylor more unique by replacing the T with a B.

Your the only other person I know beisde myself that likes this name. My favorite combo is Baylor Michelle. I love this name.

I think Baylor is an adorable name for a little boy. Its on my short list. On a girl?? NMS, but if you like it, go for it!! I want to use Tristan for little girl and everyone hated that idea, but you know what?? I like it and I probably will use it. You have to realize that you are the one thats going to be using this name day in and day out (as well as your child). Bay is a cute nn too. I don't live anywhere near Texas, so maybe that makes a difference.

Try thinking of it this way: A name is an assigned sound, at the end of the day. It isn't a material possession. One person who uses it is not "taking" it from someone else. The idea that boys' parents are being somehow robbed when a girl's parents choose a traditionally male name is, simply, incorrect.

My cousin just named his dog Baylor. It sounds kinda "yuppy" to my ears and I don't know why.

I agree that Baylor is a boy's name. It's OK, but I wouldn't use it personally, though. Either spelling is OK.

I don't really go for surnamey first names, but I've always liked Baylor. Don't know why, but I find it somewhat sweet and strong. 100% Boy.

I don't like it very much, it reminds me of the name Gaylord (which is kind of repulsive), but, hey, I've heard of names like Bayrex so why critisice. People choose the names they whant, if you like it go for it!! By the way, I think it's a boy name.

Well, its personally not my style at all, because it's much too close to Taylor. I'd deffinately say boy though.

Boy, definitely. Not on a girl - I feel ridiculous even calling a girl Taylor. I'd prefer it spelled Baylor. Bayler looks a bit too much more like an occupational surname, and lacks the masculine impact of Baylor.
I live in Texas so I associate the name with Baylor the college.
I could kind of like the idea of a nickname Bail/Bailey (spelled however).
I would feel a bit guilty about using a surname name that's not in my own family as a first name, but I don't think I'd really let it stop me if I loved the name.
